CURRENT ROLE

Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology

Mahaveer Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bhopal

  • Responsible for the academic teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate learners, including MBBS, MD, Allied Health & Nursing Students.
  • Conducts theory classes, practical demonstrations, laboratory-based teaching sessions, case discussions and competency-oriented training in medical microbiology.
  • Guides students in the collection, processing, examination and interpretation of clinical specimens used for bacteriological, mycological, parasitological, serological and molecular investigations.
  • Participates in the reporting of clinical samples and supports the interpretation of diagnostic microbiology and molecular-testing results.
  • Supervises routine laboratory practices to ensure accuracy, reliability, biosafety and timely reporting of microbiological investigations.
  • Conducts infection-prevention and control audits in clinical and laboratory areas to identify gaps in hand hygiene, biomedical-waste segregation, environmental cleaning, device-associated infection prevention and safe laboratory practices.
  • Participates in antimicrobial-stewardship rounds and supports the rational use of antimicrobial agents through review of microbiological reports, culture findings and antimicrobial-susceptibility patterns.
  • Contributes to departmental academic activities, student mentoring, research planning, scientific presentations, institutional committees and laboratory-quality improvement initiatives.

Oral and gut microbiome signatures

Metagenomic and metabolomic studies in tuberculosis and colorectal cancer through interdisciplinary collaboration.

RESEARCH SUPERVISION

PhD, MD and ICMR-STS guidance

Co-guided work on biofilms, beta-lactamases, vancomycin-resistant enterococci, Candida virulence, tuberculosis diagnostics and hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae.
